Meet Our Speakers:
Zan Tyler speaks to the heart of Christian parents like few others. Zan’s own homeschool journey began in 1984 when she was threatened with jail. She has spent the past three decades advocating for homeschool freedom, publishing curriculum and resources, and joyfully equipping parents to thrive in their homeschool journey. She is an uplifting speaker, author, and the host of the Zan Tyler Podcast, an encouraging and practical weekly podcast with a new episode each Wednesday
Joe Tyler Joe Tyler is President of Followers in Fellowship, a 501c3 organization committed to advancing Christian education. Joe spent thirty years as an information systems project manager. Joe and Zan homeschooled their three children through high school. Joe is Chairman of the Board for the South Carolina Association of Independent Homeschools (SCAIHS).

YOU’RE INVITED! The TEACH-CT Leadership Luncheon is an invitation-only event designed to encourage, equip, and build community among those involved in home education leadership, in CT and border towns in neighbor states.
PASTORS WELCOME! We encourage pastors who host your groups at their churches or offer other support to homeschooling to attend the luncheon for free. (See registration details below)
REFRESHMENT! Leaders tend to pour much more into their groups than they receive back – it’s the nature of leadership. Our desire is to come alongside and refill your cup for a change! One of the ways we do that is by inviting experienced Christian home education leaders like Zan & Joe Tyler, who understand the challenges leaders face, and can provide much needed insight, inspiration, and biblically-sound advice to build your leadership toolbox. They also have powerful testimonies to share about God’s faithfulness after 30+ yrs of fighting battles very similar to what we faced this year. They have witnessed how God uses ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary plans, and he is not yet done with this story.
COMMUNITY/ NETWORKING! Leadership can be lonely at times, so we provide ample opportunity for fellowship and networking with other leaders. Our aim is to foster a stronger sense of community and mutual encouragement as you share your challenges and successes. We also want to stay connected in order to respond quickly should we face legislative issues or other concerns.

10:30 - Session #1: Six Essential Traits for Homeschool Leadership
Drawing on decades of experience in local, state, and national homeschool leadership, Zan Tyler shares biblical and historical lessons on what it means to lead well — as a family. You’ll explore traits like servanthood, vision, initiative, courage, and calling, and consider what it takes to fill the leadership gap. You’ll also consider ways to keep your marriage strong while encouraging other homeschool families. And you’ll discover how to incorporate your children in your efforts, so that leadership becomes a mission that unites your family rather than tearing it apart.

1:00 - Session #2: Rescuing and Equipping New Homeschool Families
Thousands of parents are choosing to homeschool every year—many running from problems in traditional schools without a vision for the power and benefits of homeschooling. These new families are often overwhelmed and isolated, one discouraging season or difficult stretch away from giving up. What will it take to help them persevere in homeschooling? In this session, Zan calls seasoned homeschool leaders to a simple, urgent task: rescue and equip the new families in your midst. Drawing on America’s deep roots of Christian education and freedom — from Scripture to Noah Webster’s founding vision to Pierce v. Society of Sisters — Zan will share practical ways to help these families gain the staying power to thrive in their homeschool.
2:00 - Session #3: Facilitated small group discussion
An opportunity for leaders to reflect on the ideas that were presented in the sessions, explore application and implementation strategies, share best practices and go home with practical tools you can try on Monday!
2:45 - Session #4: TEACH Board – Interactive discussion
The new law PA 26-37 - the Federal Scholarship Tax Credit, Alliance/HSLDA conference recap and a look forward. Q&A.
3:30 – Luncheon ends but discussion can continue for those who desire during clean up.
Who is Invited?
Leaders, co-leaders and those being prepared for leadership of faith-based homeschool groups, in or near CT. This includes co-ops, activity groups Facebook or tutorial groups. If you have questions, please contact us at gro.tchcaet@tchcaet. While the content is distinctly Christian, any leader who wants to attend is welcome.
