Maps & Parking Information

WHERE TO MEET IN THE MORNING  [Map of LOB/Capitol]

We will be meeting in Room 310 of the Capitol Building. The closest entrance is the Capitol West Entrance on the side of the Capitol building facing the LOB.  If you parked in the LOB garage, then the safest route is to enter the West Entrance of the LOB (off Hungerford Street) and travel over to the Capitol via the concourse. Once on the first floor of the Capitol, there are elevators and a stone multi-flight staircase to the 3rd floor. Room 310 is straight ahead at the top of the staircase. Click here to view/print a map to Room 310 from the LOB entrance and the Capitol West entrance.

Note: You must pass through security at either entrance. Packing light will expedite that process and no knives of any kind are allowed.

PARKING  [Map]

LOB Parking Garage:  Limited parking is available on level one of the garage adjacent to the Legislative Office Building (LOB) via Hungerford Street.  Additional parking is also available on the lower level.  However, lower level parking is not appropriate for large vans due to low clearance.

If parking in the LOB garage, please note that you may no longer use the sky walk from the 3rd floor of the garage to enter the LOB. Instead, you must go outside on the 1st floor of the garage and enter the LOB through the Hungerford Street doors on the West side of the building.

Capitol Grounds Parking: There is a very limited number of free parking spots at the entrance to the Capitol Grounds, corner of Trinity St and Elm St. The remainder are for CT State employees only and there is limited handicap parking near the West Entrance.

Street Parking:  Free 2 hour parking is available on Hungerford Street (across the street from the Legislative Office Building and across Capitol Avenue) and the surrounding neighborhood.

Metered Parking: The streets surrounding Bushnell and Capitol Park have $1/hr metered parking which can be refilled from your phone. Visit www.woonerfct.com or www.hartfordparking.com for more information.

Oak Street Garage A public parking garage is located at 21 Oak Street (across from the Legislative Office Building). Expect to pay between $13 to $16.

Public Parking Lots: There are several ProPark and LAZ parking lots within a 10 minute walk of the Capitol. Expect to pay between $10 to $12 for daytime. Remember, Capitol Day is a FREE activity. Most field trips and activities require a per person admission fee. We encourage people to meet in commuter lots outside the city and carpool in to split the cost.
