Support GroupsThis support group list benefits and encourages homeschooling families and is not to be used for soliciting business. Serves: entire state ** N O R T H W E S T **Litchfield County Christian Homeschool AssociationPeggy Uzarski -- or Missy Cipriano --Christian group offering fieldtrips, classes and homeschool soccer through its members. E-mail distribution of information available through the LCCHA web. Serves: Litchfield County - Torrington, Goshen, New Hartford, Winsted, Harwinton, Litchfield, Thomaston Homeschool In The Hills Tween/Teen Co-opPam Pinto --Open Group - Meeting Location: First Congregational Church,Thomaston, CT (next to Waterbury) Homeschool In The Hills is a tween/teen cooperative learning program for homeschoolers, and at present is run informally with some general planning groups and parents within the community assuming various roles such as teachers, class facilitators, supervisors, planners, and more. These parents volunteer their time and skills and everyone in the group benefits. Homeschool In The Hills also offers children the opportunity to participate in a homeschool choir. The co-op members plan various Field Trip's around the State. Homeschool In The Hills programs are run separately from the First Congregational Church and our cooperative is completely inclusive – all are welcome. We have members from all across the state. Serves: Entire State ** N O R T H C E N T R A L **S.E.L.A.H. - Support and Encouragement for Learning At HomeJennifer Hayashida --Open Group meets at Wintonbury Baptist Church Maple Avenue Bloomfield, CT 2nd Thursday of every month. Serves: Bloomfield, Canton, Simsbury, Granby, Windsor, Suffield, West Hartford, Hartford Network of Teaching Christian Homes (NTCH)Open Group meets at the Presbyterian Church of Manchester located at 394 Lydall Street in Manchester, CT, on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm. Children are welcome to sit quietly in the meetings. Please contact a board member if lacking child care will keep you from attending.Serves: Greater Manchester and Greater Hartford areas, Tolland county William Wilberforce Communicators (W.W.C.)Contact David Weekley. This is a Christian Homeschool Speech & Debate Club affiliated with the National Christian Forensics and Communication Association (NCFCA). It is a Christian Group and you must agree with statement of faith. Currently meets 1st & 3rd Fridays in Manchester, CT (schedule subject to change). Students learn the fundamentals of Speech & Debate and are given the opportunity to build those skills in a supportive yet competitive environment.Serves: Greater Hartford area and beyond ** S O U T H E A S T **Calvary Chapel of Southeastern CTKarla Boeddinghaus Umland --126 Sharp Hill Road Uncasville, CT 06382 Closed group (church members only) Open to calls regarding homeschooling Serves: Colchester, Old Lyme, Gales Ferry, Groton, Ledyard, Norwich,Uncasville CHOOSE CT - Christian Homeschoolers Organization of SE CTMichele King --Private group that requires a membership application & agreement with a statement of faith. Core activities: Curiosity Classes and Together on Tuesdays. Both events are held on Tuesdays. Curiosity Classes are member-exclusive, 60-90 minute fun classes; Together on Tuesdays operates as social time for both parents and children; it is open to any homeschooler of any age. Additional field trips and special events are also held during the year. Serves: Gales Ferry, Ledyard, New London, Uncasville, Waterford, Montville, Groton, Mystic, Stonington, North Stonington, Lebanon, Franklin, Jewett City, Canterbury, Dayville, and Marlborough CT C.H.E.E.R. - CT Cooperative of Home Educators East of the RiverYahoo group for information sharing and general homeschool related questions. Membership free -- visit website to sign -up** S O U T H W E S T **Dayspring Christian HomeschoolersLisbeth Miller --Open Group meets on the fourth Tuesday evening of each month, in alternating homes of members. Serves: Lower Fairfield County, CT Parts of Westchester County, NY C.H.A.L.K. (Christian Homeschooling Adults Leading Kids)Kim Pasquini --Open group meets in Milford - 3rd Tues. Serves: Milford, Orange, West Haven, Stratford Classical Kids (of Bethel)Open Group - not exclusively Christian. Meet 2X monthly, once in evening for adults, once in afternoon for kids. Location varies, usually Bethel. Serves: Bethel, Danbury area Great Ways to Home Educate - GWHEPresident: Maureen Marcucci --Information and Registration: Tonya Mankowski -- GWHE welcomes all families, regardless of their faith, curriculum choice, or teaching style. The location of activities varies dependent upon the interests of our members. We currently run the following activities: Boys' football and baseball, Girls' softball, Used Curriculum Fair, Support Group meetings, New Homeschooler Information Nights, Spelling Bee, Geography Bee, NorthWest Connecticut Homeschool Cooperative, Annual Picnic, 4-H, Science Classes, History Club, Teen Group, and many more. Currently meeting in leader’s home in Marbledale (New Milford area). Adult monthly meeting in Marlborough, 2nd Monday of month. Serves: Marlborough and surrounding towns F.A.I.T.H. - Families Assisting in Teaching HomesLinda Farrell --Open group for K-5 to 12th grade Christian families. Welcome calls from homeschoolers in the general area. Serves: Meriden, Wallingford, Southington S.C.H.E.F. - Shoreline Christian Home Educators FellowshipOpen Christian group that meets the second Tuesday of each month at the Clinton Library, from 7-9pm. Please contact us for more info. Serves: Branford, Guilford, Madison, Clinton, Old Saybrook, Old Lyme, and up through Chester, Killingworth and Haddam. |
